Summer 2022 Hess Fellows
On May 10, the Krulak Institute at Birmingham-Southern celebrated the 2022 Hess Fellow Interns, who will complete eight-week internships at nonprofits across the country this summer. The Hess Fellow Internship Program is an important part of the Institute’s mission to integrate classroom knowledge with real-world experience through service learning, study abroad, research, and more.
Each Hess Fellow will serve a different advocacy or anti-poverty organization. Students completing anti-poverty internships have been paired with an organization through the Shepard Higher Education Consortium on Poverty (SHECP).
Past Hess Fellows have conducted research, studied dimensions of poverty, facilitated coalitions, and organized lobbying or other advocacy efforts. The program places students in top organizations that allow them to explore their career goals through a cause about which they are passionate.
