Exit Interview: Matt James ’19
Written by Hannah Scofield
Meet Matt James, a business administration graduate. Matt is bound for Australia in the fall to pursue his graduate degree of Business Information Technology at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
Why did you choose BSC?
I chose BSC mainly to play football.
What are some things you’ve accomplished here that you would not have been able to accomplish anywhere else?
Here at BSC, I was given the chance to study abroad in Australia for a semester.
What was your best BSC moment?
One of the best moments I had at BSC was working out with the football team during the summer. I really enjoyed the high-pace environment that the coaches put us through.
Worst BSC moment?
My worst moment at BSC was taking Accounting II. It was the hardest class I’ve ever had.
Have you traveled abroad or during E-Term?
I spent a semester abroad in Melbourne, Australia, in 2017. This was by far the best semester of my college career. Melbourne has an incredible culture – it’s a lively city and full of students.
How has BSC prepared you for studying abroad?
Before you study abroad at BSC, you need to complete a course that prepares you for the different cultures you will encounter during your time abroad. I found this class helpful.
What’s a fun fact about you?
I am an avid weightlifter. I work out six days a week. I am also heavily interested in VFX (visual effects) and filmmaking. During my time at BSC, I often helped students add visual effects to their short films.
Why did you want to pursue a higher degree after BSC?
Studying at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Australia taught me so much about myself and business. To me, pursuing a master’s degree in a major city like Melbourne will be a great advantage for me.
